If you are like me you hate visiting the dentist.
Just the thought of that little pick scraping my teeth gives me chills!
I am going to teach you a simple trick to survive this terrible visit with little to no pain!
First you will need to purchase the following.
1. Orajel (from the pharmacy)
2. floss
3. mouth wash
Now assuming you do brush your teeth do the following 2 hours before your checkup.
Step 1.
Use a good mouthwash and gargle for 30 seconds before spitting it out.. do not rinse!
Step 2.
Floss your teeth properly and try to get as much gunk out as you can but dont go to deep! You will probably bleed but that is ok.
Step 3.
Use your mouth wash again. This time be sure to switch it well into your mouth and really try to get it in between your teeth. After 45 seconds spit it out and rinse until your are no longer spitting out bubbly water.
Step 4.
Wait until you are in the waiting room at the dentist and then use a small amount of the Orajel gel on your molars and a bit on the gums on the front of your mouth.
What this does is lessen the load the dentist has to do. When you do a good self clean before you go to the dentist the only thing that will be left is the rock hard plaque they will have to remove. Because you used mouth wash and flossed then mouth washed again you not only cleaned a large amount of plaque but you also desensitized your gums a bit so when the dentist uses the metal scraper it will barely hurt.
The bit of numbing gel will make it so when they pick your molars you wont feel it and when they use the polishing machine that gives you that burning friction feeling on the front of your teeth you will not feel it!
** Remember not to use too much gel though. If you numb your entire mouth instead of the above spots you may make it hard for them to clean your mouth.. eg. you will have a hard time keeping your tongue out of the way.
Do this and avoid the pain and mental stress of visiting the dentist!!

ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering - would it be enough to just take an aspirin before the visit? I've never tried any of these solutions, but maybe it's an easier way.
ReplyDeleteAspirin is a blood thinner so you will bleed more from your gums when he clans them. probably not the best thing :P

ReplyDeleteAwesome, i've never enjoyed going to the dentist ;<
ReplyDeleteEvery lazy teens worst nightmare... the dentist.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was more responsible when I was younger, dental problems are usually permanent!
Great tips!
Great content here.
ReplyDeleteGood tips all around
ReplyDeleteMy dentist is hot so i can manage any pain (on the other hand she has never done anything painfull to me... on the other hand nothing very plesant too)
ReplyDeleteGood advice, I've been doing this for years! Works a treat.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that could be useful. Giving the dentist less work would mean people would have to spend less time sitting in the chair. Most people feel tense while they're waiting for the dental procedure to finish, after all. Of course, keeping the teeth and gums clean all year will make things less troublesome!
